Smoke hides victims and slows interior search and hose crews at a working fire. Fire rescue ventilation fans help to clear smoke & heat improving conditions for victims and firefighters inside the structure. After knockdown, fire rescue ventilation fans help with overhaul by clearing lingering smoke and carbon monoxide from interior spaces.
Positive Pressure Fans vs Smoke Ejector Fans
A positive pressure ventilation (PPV) fan is generally placed just outside the entry point and blows air in. The pressure it creates forces smoke and heat out through an exhaust opening, which crews coordinate with fire attack under department SOPs.
A smoke ejector fan is used after initial fire knockdown and is usually hung in a doorway or window opening and typically pulls smoke from the room behind it increasing visibility and improving air quality.
Our fire rescue fan selection includes battery-powered and engine-driven fans from SuperVac, Tempest, and TELE-LITEAIRE and Super Vac smoke ejectors.
